« Miroir Fluvial »

2020, Cap-Santé, Québec, Canada

282cm X 154cm

Following a competition with its fellow artists in 2019, the City of Cap-Santé chose Catherine Blackburn’s proposal. She proposed a work inspired by her adoptive city, where she has lived for more than 16 years:

« Pick a tree trunk on the shore of Cap-Santé, like a soul having chosen to settle here in search of happiness through its inhabitants, its festivities and its history. »

In the work of Catherine Blackburn, the city and the beings that inhabit it are represented by the beauty and strength of wood. The open trunk creates a mirror effect and contrasts with the coldness of the curved stainless steel, like the waves of the St. Lawrence.

Unforgettable sunset, you can feel the festive atmosphere of the Place de l’Eglise and the Vieux chemin. Intertwined in their rich architecture stand out happy faces inspired by a few personalities who have marked Cap-Santé.
